Emma at the Milk Race

“I started working with Chris in January after deciding that I wanted to take my road and track racing more seriously. I had done a little before but struggled to get the results I thought I was capable of and didn’t really know how to go about changing that. Chris took the time to understand my motivations as a rider and we worked out a realistic set of goals which were worked into an annual plan. He then translated this into a weekly training plan and was very flexible about working around my schedule to make sure it worked for me (I have a job that can mean long hours and being in different locations).

The plan contains a mixture of sessions based on power, heart rate and “feel” and the objectives of each are clear which really helps me to stay motivated. One to one skills sessions are included periodically and I always come away with something new to improve my riding whether it be road, track or more recently cyclo cross.

I’ve achieved far more than I thought possible this year: gaining my Cat 2 licence, several podium finishes, competing in the top level domestic races (such as Milk Race, London Nocturne, Ride London GP and Westminster GP) and even getting a top 10 finish in Guildford Town Centre Crits.  We’re just starting to think about next season – I think it could be another good one…”
